Fundraising Strategy
A core strategy for the Alliance is collective fundraising that addresses the historic under-funding and under-capitalization of BIPOC theaters and our leaders.
To date, we have received funding support from the Nonprofit Sustainability Initiative, a program of the California Community Foundation. In 2023, we will proactively seek funding support locally and nationally to support the collective work of our 14 Alliance member theaters:
PHASE 1:
$2.1 MILLION TOWARDS ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OR MANAGING DIRECTOR SALARIES
For every year of the 3-year plan, each of the 14 Alliance members will receive $50K a year towards Artistic Director or Managing Director salaries. To uplift and support the work of the BIPOC Artistic Directors who are traditionally underpaid compared to their White counterparts.
PHASE 2:
For every year of the 3-year plan, each of the 14 Alliance members will receive $119K a year towards marketing enhancement. But our vision goes beyond typical marketing programs.
We will promote BIPOC stories, artists, and increase audiences through cross-promotion among the 14 theaters represented in the Alliance. This will include maintaining this collective website and supporting individual theater’s websites.
$5 MILLION TOWARDS MARKETING
PHASE 3:
$10 MILLION TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY
For every year of the 5-year plan, each of the 14 Alliance member theaters will receive $143K towards general operations.
